Kyle Alspach
Kyle Alspach is a Senior Editor at CRN focused on cybersecurity. His coverage spans news, analysis and deep dives on the cybersecurity industry, with a focus on fast-growing segments such as cloud security, application security and identity security.
Kyle has covered the tech industry for more than a decade and previously was the Senior Technical Editor at CRN from 2016 to 2021. Before rejoining CRN in early 2023, he was the cybersecurity reporter at VentureBeat and Protocol.
Kyle specializes in taking a deeper look into important trends, companies and people within cybersecurity. Often, his coverage has brought clarity to areas of the cybersecurity space that have been experiencing a lot of confusion, such as zero trust and XDR.
During his initial stint with CRN, Kyle covered mobile device and PC news, with a focus on Microsoft, Apple and HP Inc. He also headed product reviews and awards while supervising several members of the writing team.
Earlier in his career, Kyle covered tech news at multiple outlets including the Boston Business Journal, American Inno and the Boston Globe’s BetaBoston site. In all, he has been a journalist since the spring of 2005, having landed his first full-time job in journalism a month before graduating from college. Kyle holds a bachelor’s degree from Eastern Nazarene College.
Originally from Massachusetts, Kyle now lives in New York City. He enjoys the outdoors, reading nonfiction and re-watching “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.”
