While forward-looking solution providers were drawn to Docker’s open-source container engine because of its ability to deliver the holy grail of enterprise computing—application isolation—with unprecedented benefits in resource utilization, portability, deployment speed and fault tolerance, in its early days, they were mostly on their own in figuring out monetization strategies.
But the startup’s channel maturity is now catching up with its eponymous product’s market penetration. In September, Docker introduced a two-tier channel program, formalizing its relationship with many of those early partners around its flagship commercial product.
