Dell Product Roadmap Featuring New Smartphones, Tablets Leaked

Dell's leaked product schedule features four upcoming Android tablets, beginning with the Dell Gallo, based on Google's tablet-specific Android 2.3 OS, code-named Honeycomb. According to the slides, the Dell Gallo is set to hit the market in April, with a refreshed version to follow in Q4.

The Dell Gallo will be followed by another Honeycomb-based tablet, the Dell Sterling, which is due in Q4, according to the slides. In Q1 of 2012, Dell will launch two more Android tablets: the Dell Opus One and the Dell Silver Oak, according to the slides.

The slides show that Dell is also preparing a pair of Windows-based tablets, code-named Rosemont and Peju. Peju appears to be scheduled for release in January 2012, according to the leaked information, in which Peju is listed as a Windows 8-based device even though Microsoft has yet to officially use this name in reference to its next Windows release. The leaked slides show both Windows 8 and the next version of Google's mobile platform, Android 2.4, launching within the next year.

Dell also plans to launch in July a smartphone code-named Wrigley running Windows 7, according to the slides. Wrigley will feature a 1GHz processor, a 4-inch WGVA screen, an 8-megapixel camera, and 720p video capability, according to the leaked roadmap.

Finally, the slides show that a Dell smartphone, code-named Hancock, is scheduled to come to market in September. The Dell Hammock will apparently run the new Android OS, code-named Ice Cream, which offers similar capabilities to smartphones as Honeycomb has brought to tablets and was introduced this week at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

Some of Dell's competitors in the mobile space, including Acer and HTC, have unveiled new devices at MWC, but Dell did not -- raising the question as to whether the leak may have been intentional.

Dell's Venue Pro smartphone and Streak tablet, both of which have already been revealed to the public, also appear in the leaked roadmap. According to the slides, Dell's Streak 7 tablet is due for an update in Q3.
