AWS CEO’s 5 Bullish New Generative AI Investments
From a new $100 million generative AI innovation center and startup program to AWS AppFabric and Amazon Bedrock, here’s five recent generative AI launches highlighted by CEO Adam Selipsky.
From a new $100 million generative AI innovation center to the unveiling of AWS AppFabric, Amazon Web Services CEO Adam Selipsky has been traveling the world to spread his company’s bullish message and new investments in generative artificial intelligence (AI).
From Canada to London, Selipsky has been touting his company’s leadership position in the red-hot generative AI market over the past two months.
“As generative AI gains momentum across industries, customers ask us how they can embrace this technology without risking data privacy or IP,” said AWS’ CEO in a LinkedIn post Wednesday. “We’re addressing that challenge with Amazon Bedrock, which ensures customer data is encrypted and not used for training models. We’re also giving customers in every industry a wide range of tools and models to use, along with guidance from AWS experts to help them tailor a model to their specific needs.”

Adam Selipsky Touts AI Innovation, Customer Wins
Adam Selipsky has consistently posted on social media over the past several weeks to highlight big customer wins and new AI innovation. AWS’ CEO has been traveling to speak with customers, partners, startups and AWS teams in various regions.
“Our customers across industries are seeing the promise of generative AI with AWS,” said Selipsky in a recent LinkedIn post.
For example, last month, Selipsky traveled to France to talk with team members and customers “about the opportunity of generative AI.” On the customer front, Selipsky recently announced, “health technology company Philips is partnering with AWS to explore how to leverage the power of Amazon Bedrock to improve clinical decision making, reporting, and administrative tasks.”
In terms of innovation, AWS’ CEO said to train machine learning models and build generative AI applications, customers need to have the right data strategy in place. “By centralizing data in an Amazon S3 data lake, our customers are able to accelerate their path to generative AI much faster than if their data were siloed,” he recently said on LinkedIn.

$100 Million Generative AI Innovation Center
AWS is pouring $100 million into its new AWS Generative AI Innovation Center, which aims to help customers successfully build and deploy custom generative AI products and services.
“We continue to hear from companies around the world looking for help realizing the promise of generative AI,” said AWS CEO in a LinkedIn post. “That’s why I’m pleased to announce a $100M investment in our new AWS Generative AI Innovation Center, where our experts will work with customers to build unique solutions that harness the power of this transformative technology. This builds on more than 25 years of deep investment in AI technologies for customers.”
The new center will connect AWS AI and machine learning (ML) experts with customers around the globe. AWS experts help customers envision, design, and launch new generative AI products and services.
The center’s team of strategists, data scientists, engineers, and solutions architects, as well as experts from the AWS Partner Network, will work step-by-step with customers to build bespoke solutions that harness generative AI.
AWS Launches AppFabric; Generative AI Assistant Ahead
In late June, AWS introduced AppFabric, a no-code service that provides the integration of multiple Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) applications. Customers can integrate third-party applications within their IT environment using AppFabric in the AWS console, which cuts out the need for customized integrations and provides a unified view of application performance and usage.
Later this year, a new generative AI feature will be added to AppFabric that allows users to quickly acquire answers, automate tasks and get insights across multiple SaaS applications.
“AWS now offers a service to get more out of the most widely used productivity apps. Today, we’re announcing AWS AppFabric,” said Selipsky in a recent LinkedIn post. “In just a few clicks, IT and security teams can connect, secure, and manage applications in one unified location. In the future, AppFabric’s generative AI assistant will automatically make suggestions, execute tasks, or generate insights across applications.”
AWS Generative AI Accelerator Program For Startups
AWS is pushing startups to accelerate generative AI innovation to drive new customer adoption through its AWS Generative AI Accelerator startup program. These startups have the opportunity to pitch their demos to venture capitalists in the AWS network and receive up to $300,000 in AWS cloud credits.
Selipsky highlighted these startups are providing “what’s possible” with generative AI technology and bolding reinventing applications and the customer experience.
“Welcome to the 21 startups joining our AWS generative AI accelerator,” said Selipsky on LinkedIn. “These startups come from a variety of industries, and they’re all doing extraordinary things in generative AI—from education, to media, to healthcare and new foundational models. For the next ten weeks, we’ll be working to help them scale and give them access to AWS’s industry-leading technology.”
During the program, the startups receive tailored technical advice and dedicated mentorship.
New World-Class Generative AI Course
In partnership with educational technology provider DeepLearning.AI, AWS is looking to get people up to speed on generative AI and understand large language models (LLMs) via a new course taught by AWS AI experts. Engineers, data scientists and other participants learn the fundamentals of how generative AI works, and how to deploy it in real-world application.
“Excited to launch this course in partnership with DeepLearning.AI and come together to deliver on the vision to democratize generative AI. This is a great way to understand how LLMs work, and to learn how to deploy generative AI applications,” said Adam Selipsky.
The course goes deep into the technical foundations of LLMs and how to use them. People work through the full life-cycle of a generative AI project, and learn specific techniques such as RLHF; advanced prompting frameworks like ReAct; fine-tuning LLMs; and gain hands-on practice with all of these techniques.
Amazon Bedrock; CEO Touts Big Customer Wins
One of AWS’ most significant generative AI launches in 2023 is Amazon Bedrock, which makes foundation models from AI startups and Amazon available via an API.
“As generative AI gains momentum across industries, customers ask us how they can embrace this technology without risking data privacy or IP. We’re addressing that challenge with Amazon Bedrock, which ensures customer data is encrypted and not used for training models,” said AWS’ CEO.
Over the past two months, Selipsky has touted significant customer wins around Amazon Bedrock, including health technology giant Philips.
“Health technology company Philips is partnering with AWS to explore how to leverage the power of Amazon Bedrock to improve clinical decision making, reporting, and administrative tasks. Global software company Autodesk built a related generative design process on AWS to help product designers create thousands of choices and zero in on the most optimal design,” said Selipsky.
AWS’ CEO also highlighted how bioscience research company Allen Institute is using Bedrock.
“With AWS, the Allen Institute is mapping the whole human brain and creating the largest open-source brain cell database in the world. The team is looking to leverage generative AI services like Amazon Bedrock to integrate foundation models into this first-of-its-kind platform to advance treatment for brain disorders,” said Selipsky. “A true example of how AI and ML will change lives for the better.”
