Microsoft Readies Some Office Reopenings As COVID-19 Surge Ebbs

Other U.S. locations ‘will follow suit as conditions allow,’ according to the post.

Microsoft will fully reopen offices in Washington state and the San Francisco Bay area on Feb. 28, according to a blog post. The tech vendor decided to reopen offices due in part to the high local rate of vaccination against COVID-19.

Washington state employees have 30 days “to make adjustments to their routines and adopt the working preferences they’ve agreed upon with their managers,” according to the blog post. Microsoft did not say if California employees have the same window.

Other U.S. locations “will follow suit as conditions allow,” according to the post.

Microsoft previously scrapped Oct. 4 as the first possible date to return “given the uncertainty of COVID-19,” according to a blog post from the time.

Other big tech companies have wrestled with return-to-office dates and policies during the global pandemic. In December, Apple indefinitely delayed its return-to-the-office date, and CNBC reported that Google did the same.
