CES 2022: Lenovo’s New ThinkPad Debut Expected In May
The ThinkPad Z13 and Z16 are pre-loaded with Windows 11, powered by Next-Gen AMD Ryzen PRO Processors for mobile and feature the Microsoft Pluton security processor.
Lenovo will release a new series of ThinkPad laptops aimed at business users in May and new smart home offerings during the first quarter.
The ThinkPad Z13 and Z16 are pre-loaded with Windows 11, powered by Next-Gen AMD Ryzen PRO Processors for mobile and feature the Microsoft Pluton security processor, according to Hong Kong-based Lenovo.
The Z13 is powered by Next-Gen AMD Ryzen PRO U-Series processors, and the Z16 is powered by Next-Gen AMD Ryzen PRO H-Series processors with an option for AMD Radeon discrete graphics, according to the company.

The AMD Ryzen 7 Pro processor aims to improve audio and video performance, responsiveness and battery life for Teams, Zoom and other applications. ThinkPad Z16 has the option to configure with AMD Radeon graphics for more advanced content creation, according to the statement. AMD Smart Shift Max can boost CPU and GPU while AMD Smart Shift Eco can improve battery efficiency.
The laptops have match-on-chip fingerprint readers integrated into the keyboards, displays with ultra-narrow bezels, 16:10 aspect ratios and a communications bar meant to enhance audio and video conferencing, according to Lenovo.
The communications bar has an improved full high definition webcam with a larger 1.4 micrometer sensor and dual-array microphones. The TrackPoint has a new ability – when users double tap, they launch a menu for quick access to common camera and microphone settings.
The laptops also include an electronic shutter and the highest screen-to-body ratio in the ThinkPad portfolio at 91.6 percent for the Z13 and 92.3 percent for the Z16. They also have Dolby Atmos speakers and Dolby Voice AI noise cancellation, according to Lenovo.
The ThinkPad Z13 price starts at $1,549. The Z16 starts at $2,099.
As for Lenovo’s smart home offerings, the Smart Clock Essential with Alexa built is available this month starting at $59.99, according to a statement. Users can set timers, alarms and reminders. The Alexa virtual assistant from Amazon can add items to users’ Amazon carts and control homes by voice.
The Lenovo Ambient Light Dock will release during the first quarter, starting at $29.99, according to a statement. The dock works with Alexa to cycle through light colors and settings.
