PCM: Dell VMware Integrations Provide A ‘Serious’ Market Advantage

“It doesn’t feel like three or four companies anymore, it feels like one company,” said Phil Mogavero, vice president of hybrid data center partnerships at PCM.

The true power of Dell Technologies was on full display at Dell Technologies World this week, highlighted by major product launches tying Dell and VMware together closer than ever.

“It doesn’t feel like three or four companies anymore, it feels like one company,” said Phil Mogavero, vice president of hybrid data center partnerships at PCM, a Dell Titanium partner ranked No. 25 on CRN’s Solution Provider 500 list. “Dell’s power in going to market with one company, one vision, one strategy, one go-to-market and products that are integrated together gives them a serious advantage in the market.”

Mogavero’s thoughts were echoed by both Dell Technologies CEO Michael Dell and VMware CEO Pat Gelsinger. “We see that these technologies and the momentum that we’ve built, the solutions that we’ve architected over the last 18 months, is really positioning us like no one else,” said Gelsinger on stage at the Dell’s Global Partner Summit this week. “We’re partnering across our ecosystem, but this relationship with Dell and VMware is unique and powerful. We have defied gravity.”

Round Rock, Texas-based Dell on Monday unveiled its biggest cloud news in recent memory with the new Dell Technologies Cloud Platforms and Cloud Data Center-as-a-Service offerings. Both solutions were jointly engineered by combining Dell and VMware hardware, software and services capabilities.

“Dell Technologies is really trying to simplify the solutions on-premises with the customer but also create the replication into the cloud. At the same time, what they’ve told us is they need partners like PCM to get them to market,” said Mogavero. “The partnering message was really important today because it’s not only about just the technologies, it’s about the partnership. And Dell has done a great job communicating how valuable their partners are that have the expertise around cloud, cloud consulting, managed services and all of the solutions that Dell brings to market to form a complete solution. We’re really excited about it.”

Dell also unveiled major enhancements to its midrange Unity product line with Unity XT, designed to help customers more quickly move to multi-cloud infrastructures. Unity XT features a combination of software enhancements, the latest generation of Intel processors to double the performance of previous generations, and is NVMe-ready.

Mogavero said the new storage solution will help boost customer momentum around the cloud and data analytics.

“The NVMe announcement Dell made here is really, really important because it gives customers scalable flash solutions to drive their most compelling business value – things like data analytics, where PCM has a practice in,” said Mogavero.

PCM is a El Segundo, Calif-based solution provider powerhouse and a CRN Triple Crown Award winner. The company has robust cloud, security, data center, networking, collaboration, mobility and manages service practices. The company generated $2.2 billion in net sales for its fiscal year 2018.
