KKR May Acquire Ensono In $1.7B Deal: Report

Ensono, which since its 2016 founding has made four acquisitions, may itself be a $1.7 billion acquisition target of global investment firm KKR & Co., according to Reuters.

Global investment firm KKR & Co. may be on the verge of unveiling the acquisition of global solution provider and IT services provider Ensono in a deal worth $1.7 billion, according to Reuters.

KKR is looking to acquire Ensono from its current owners Charlesbank Capital Partners and M/C Partners, and could unveil the deal as early as Wednesday of this week, reported Reuters, which cited unnamed sources familiar with the matter.

Neither Ensono nor KKR responded to requests for further information by press time.

Ensono, based in Downers Grove, Ill., is a hybrid IT services provider focused on helping clients with IT infrastructure and software for digital transformation. The company designs, builds, and optimizes services for clients across mainframe, midrange system, private cloud, and public cloud infrastructures. The company’s list of clients includes Travelodge, Guinness World Records, and Windstream.

Ensono is ranked No. 94 on CRN’s 2020 Solution Provider 500.

Ensono was founded in 2016 when it was spun out of Chicago-based Acxiom as a standalone company. Several of the company’s executives including CEO Jeff VonDeylen came from Savvis, the hosting services business for CenturyLink.

Ensono has itself been a very acquisitive company. Since its founding, it has acquired four companies including cloud-native application development company Amido, Wipro’s data services business including its mainframe-focused managed services, cloud platform provider Attenda; and cloud transformation company Inframon.

KKR is no stranger to the IT business. The investment firm has investments in BMC, China-based internet company ByteDance, service management platform developer Cherwell Software, Software developer Corel, cloud-based data integration platform-as-a-service provider Jitterbit, cybersecurity awareness training provider KnowBe4, codeless software development platform provider Outsystems, managed communications provider RigNet, software portfolio management specialist SoftwareONE, and telecom infrastructure services provider Telxius.
