5 Things To Know About Dell's New Latitude 9000 Series

Dell is unveiling a new line of business-friendly notebooks featuring improved portability and battery life, 5G connectivity and AI-powered features.

Just ahead of CES 2020, Dell Technologies is unveiling its latest move to push the business computing category in a helpful new direction. ​

Dell on Thursday announced the upcoming debut of the Latitude 9000 series of business notebooks, representing an expansion beyond the Latitude 7000 premium series as well as the Latitude 5000 and 3000 notebook lines. ​

The new notebooks, including the Latitude 9510, aim to combine strong portability, performance and design with new work-friendly features and support for 5G connectivity.​

What follows are five things to know about Dell's new Latitude 9000 series.​​

Display And Design​

Dell is planning both clamshell and 2-in-1 models for the new Latitude 9000 portfolio of notebooks.​

The initial Latitude 9510, in fact, will be available in either as a 2-in-1 or a clamshell laptop. The notebook will include a 15-inch display with FHD (1,920 x 1,080) resolution and up to 400 nits of brightness, with slim bezels around the "InfinityEdge" screen.​

For the body of the notebook, it will feature a machined​ aluminum chassis along with diamond cut edges, Dell said.​​

Portability And Battery Life​

Dell is touting the Latitude 9510 as the "the world’s smallest and lightest commercial 15-inch PC." The clamshell version has a starting weight of 3.2 pounds, while the convertible model starts at 3.3 pounds. The Latitude 9510 also features a thickness of just 0.67 of an inch.​

On battery life, the notebook is seeking to stand out with up to an estimated 30 hours of battery life available on a charge (with an optional six-cell, 88 WHr battery).​​

Connectivity And Performance​

The Latitude 9510 will offer advanced connectivity, Dell said, with support for both WiFi 6 and high-speed 5G mobile broadband. To enable 5G, Dell has included 5G antennas into the notebook's speakers so that the slim-bezel InfinityEdge display could be retained, the company said. 5G will be possible through the optional inclusion of the Qualcomm Snapdragon X20 LTE-A modem (or, starting in July, the Qualcomm Snapdragon X55 Global 5G Modem).​

For the notebook's performance, Dell will offer 10th-generation Intel Core processors along with up to 16 GB of RAM.​​

Key Features​

Dell is emphasizing the use of artificial intelligence with the Latitude 9510, with the company calling it "the most intelligent 15-inch business PC featuring built-in AI." ​

Key AI-powered features include ExpressResponse, which assesses user preferences and taps machine learning (with Intel Adaptix technology) to more quickly launch frequently used applications while also boosting application performance overall.​

Another key capability is ExpressCharge, which aids utilization of battery life with AI and machine learning by determining a user's usage patterns and bringing subtle adjustments (such as screen dimming) when the battery is low.​

Meanwhile, Dell is also bringing back Express Sign-In, which detects when users are near and automatically wakes up the PC. And, the Latitude 9510 will offer "intelligent audio" with improved conference calls through the elimination of echoes and background noise, Dell said.​​

Price And Availability​

Dell has not yet released the starting price for the Latitude 9510. Both the 2-in-1 and clamshell versions of the Latitude 9510 will be available on March 26, 2020, Dell said.
