Samsung Investigates What Went Wrong With Galaxy Note 7 Smartphones
Samsung kicked off its CES 2017 press conference confronting its biggest news story of the last year head on: the massive recall of the Galaxy Note 7 smartphone.
President and COO of Samsung Electronics America Tim Baxter took the stage to assure the audience that the company has made deep inquiries into how the smartphones -- which included batteries that overheated and caused fires and explosions -- ever made it to market.
’We continue our intensive efforts internally and with third-party experts to understand what happened, and to make sure it doesn’t happen again. And very soon, we will be sharing the root cause report on the Note 7,’ Baxter said.
He quickly pivoted to noting the company’s successes since last January’s CES.
’We have not, nor will we, stop innovating,’ Baxter said. ’In fact, we’ve made significant strides since CES of last year.’
