Verizon has landed a new task order with the Department of State (DOS) to modernize U.S. embassies, consulars and other key locations around the globe.

The Enterprise Infrastructure Solutions (EIS) contract is valued at $1.58 billion over the next 10 years. The deal will task the carrier giant with implementation and management of network solutions for the DOS’ nondomestic footprint, including in Asia, Africa, the Middle East and South America.

Verizon did not return CRN’s request for comment on whether channel partners will be involved in the implementation or deployment of the new technologies at the embassies before publication.

“We are uniquely qualified to provide the Department of State with powerful solutions to their global network consolidation and management needs,” said Maggie Hallbach, senior vice president, public sector at Verizon, in a statement on the deal.

Basking Ridge, N.J.-based Verizon said that it has supported other national security and civilian customers with critical infrastructure, communications and managed services for more than three decades. Via the terms of the most recent EIS contract, the Verizon public sector team will work to deliver all service on time to the DOS and according to service performance standards.

Verizon has recently won EIS contracts to modernize and upgrade the IT infrastructure for other U.S. government groups, including a more than $400 million deal with the Federal Bureau of Investigation in July and a $1 billion deal with the U.S. Department of Defense in March.
