Accenture Gets DOD Tech Contract Valued Up To $7.5B

The contract with DISA, or Defense Information Systems Agency, could result in up to $7.5 billion revenue for Accenture Federal Services and its partners to defense-focused provide IT transformation over a period of up to ten years.

Accenture Federal Services, a wholly owned subsidiary of global professional services company Accenture, on Monday said it has been awarded a contract to provide the Department of Defense with new capabilities to help transform how soldiers work with IT.

Accenture Federal Services said it was awarded an IDIQ, or indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity, contract with the DISA, or Defense Information Systems Agency, under its Systems Engineering, Technology, and Innovation (SETI) program aimed at addressing current and future mission requirements.

The contract, worth up to $7.5 billion, has a five-year base period with a five-year option period.

According to the U.S. General Services Administration, IDIQ contracts are used when the GSA is unable to determine above a specified minimum the precise quantities of supplies or services a government agency requires over the contract period, and are most often used for service contracts and architect engineering services.

The DISA contract is aimed at helping the defense agency streamline critical engineering functions related to R&D, integration, and optimization of defense IT capabilities, systems and solutions.

The contract does guarantee that Accenture Federal Services will receive the entire $7.5 billion, or even a certain part of that value. Instead, Accenture said, it lets Accenture Federal Services and its teaming partners compete for task orders to provide cloud, application, and cyber solutions with an overarching emphasis on innovation.

Accenture executives were unable to provide more information to CRN by press time.

However, Vince Vlasho, Accenture Federal Services defense portfolio lead, said in a statement that his organization was honored to be selected as an innovation partner to DISA.

"AFS’s experience in bringing together technology innovation with Defense mission needs enables us to help DISA design and deliver solutions with advanced technologies quickly that improve their service and combatant command capabilities now and into the future," Vlasho said in the statement.
