Kaspersky Gives Partners A Peek At Managed Security Service, Small Office Plays

While specific details were scarce, Kaspersky told more than 200 partners at its 2011 Kaspersky Lab Americas Partner Conference that 2011 will see the release of the Service Provider Edition of its Administration Kit, a new version of Kaspersky Small Office Security, and Kaspersky Endpoint Security version 8.

Kaspersky is planning the release of the Service Provider Edition of its Administration Kit. The managed service products will give partners an annuity-based security offering they can use to manage anti-malware deployments for their customers, said Gary Mullen, Kaspersky's vice president of corporate marketing.

Kaspersky Administration Kit Service Provider Edition will let partners manage anti-malware protection across their customers, enabling them to monitor and control customer security infrastructures. It can be offered as subscription service.

According to Randy Drawas, Kaspersky's chief marketing officer, the latest edition of Kaspersky Small Office Security is aimed at small accounting offices, law offices or other small offices that fall into the "underserved market."

For small businesses, Kaspersky Small Office Security will offer a new level of protection. Drawas said Small Office Security is built to serve up to 10 PCs and two servers and offers small business owners management control over security from a single machine. Owners can ensure security is up to snuff and manage security licenses.

The new Small Office Security product will also offer data protection that backs up data to an encrypted data vault; and Web use control, so small offices can control how employees use the Internet. Other features will include password management and file shredding.

Drawas said Kaspersky Small Office Security is expected to be released by the end of the first quarter of 2011.

Along with Kaspersky Small Office Security and Kaspersky Administration Kit Service Provider Edition, Keith Maskell, Kaspersky vice president of corporate business, on Friday also gave a glimpse into Kaspersky Endpoint Security version 8, which will feature the latest anti-virus technology, vulnerability assessment, virtualization support, application control, device control, Web control and hosted intrusion protection. Kaspersky Endpoint Security version 8 is expected to be available later this year.

"We're putting ourselves in a strong position to aggressively attack the global market," Drawas said.
