Cloud Storage Provider eFolder Hires ex-SonicWALL Exec To Run Marketing
Kevin Hoffman, CEO and CTO of the Atlanta-based cloud storage vendor, called the hiring a new step for eFolder, a small company that works exclusively through channel partners.
"We were founded by engineers, and have added a lot of sales staff," Hoffman said. "But we've been weak in marketing. Now we have a complete team."
eFolder provides technology that protects data with a combination of an on-premises disk-based backup appliance and a storage cloud which solution providers and service providers can brand as their own.
Hoffman said eFolder has a good suite of products for the channel, but has had difficulty helping partners sell it. "Ted knows how to do that," he said. "We sell only to partners with their brand names. It's a double-edge sword. It's hard for our partners to push their brand."
Hulsy will assist Jan Spring, vice president of channel development, in driving demand for eFolder's products.
"It's almost scary what Jan and Ted can do together," he said. "Jan is very good at meeting with partners and getting the word about eFolder out. Ted is very good at marketing. With Ted, we'll be able to leverage his experience to help partners drive their business and drive revenue for both of us."
Spring said Hulsy will be able to help partners in ways she never could. "While I love people and walking the show floor, I'm not great at written marketing," she said. "And I think social networking is for the birds. Kevin (Hoffman) calls it a generation gap."
