CES 2017: 5 Cool HP Devices That Just Launched
New Year, New Products
HP Inc. is kicking off 2017 with some big announcements in its PC and display businesses, led by the introduction of a brand-new model for its business-friendly EliteBook line of notebooks.
In connection with CES 2017, which is taking place this week in Las Vegas, Palo Alto, Calif.-based HP just unveiled the new EliteBook along with a new Spectre laptop, a new Envy all-in-one PC, and products for gaming and education.
In the following slides, we've got the details on the five new products that HP unveiled at CES 2017.
EliteBook x360
HP is looking to combine some of the best aspects of its Spectre x360 and EliteBook Folio laptops in the EliteBook x360, a new addition to HP's business-oriented EliteBook line. The notebook's display is able to fold all the way back, and HP is touting the EliteBook x360 as the world's thinnest business convertible, at 0.58 of an inch thick. It promises strong battery life (pegged at up to 16.5 hours), and the metal unibody notebook includes the high level of durability typical of the EliteBook line despite weighing only 2.84 pounds.
The 13.3-inch touch-screen display comes with options for FHD or UHD, and the notebook supports up to two external 4K displays. In terms of other specs, the EliteBook x360 has seventh-generation Intel Core i5 or i7 processors, and it comes with plenty of ports, including two USB-A, one USB-C, HDMI, a micro-SD card reader and a smart card reader. Security features include the Sure View integrated PC privacy screen. The notebook also has the HP Premium Collaboration Keyboard (with keys for launching calls and video chats) that's found in the EliteBook Folio.
The HP EliteBook x360 will be available in late January. Pricing hasn't been disclosed.
Spectre x360 15 (2017)
A year after introducing the Spectre x360 15, HP's update for the laptop includes a tiny bezel on the left and right sides of the 15.6-inch display, which shrinks down the footprint of the machine. The UHD touch-screen display folds all the way back, and the new Spectre x360 15 features a full-aluminum chassis and a full-size keyboard. The new version also promises up to 12.75 hours of battery life and includes seventh-generation Intel Core processors. To make room for dedicated graphics -- Nvidia GeForce 940MX -- the new Spectre x360 15 is slightly thicker than the original version (0.7 of an inch thick versus 0.62 of inch originally) and weighs 4.4 pounds (versus 4.02 pounds in the original).
The new HP Spectre x360 15 will be available Feb. 26 with a starting price of $1,279.
Envy Curved All-In-One (2017)
The new 34-inch Envy Curved All-In-One is an update to the debut of the PC in October 2015 and features improvements such as a smaller bezel on the sides and top of the display and a thinner display overall. The base of the PC includes the motherboard, hardware, speakers and ports for the computer, and the speakers feature "directional audio" so that users can experience a cleaner and louder sound. The display itself is WQHD (3,440 x 1,440 resolution) and is adjustable. The new Envy Curved All-In-One also includes seventh-generation Intel Core processors (i5 or i7) and optional discrete graphics from Nvidia GTX 950M or AMD RX 460.
The HP Envy Curved All-In-One will be available Jan. 11 with a starting price of $1,749.
Omen X 35 Curved Display
Targeted at the enthusiast gaming segment, the new Omen X 35 Curved Display is designed for immersion in a gaming experience. The 35-inch display is Ultra-WQHD with 1800R curvature (i.e., a curvature radius of 1,800mm), and the display has a small bezel on the top, right and left sides. It's also adjustable and features a metal-crafted base, and has a minuscule 4-millisecond latency.
The HP Omen X 35 Curved Display will be available in late March with a starting price of $1,299.
Sprout Pro G2
A year ago, HP launched the Sprout Pro as a new concept combining a PC with 3-D and 2-D scanning, a touch-screen mat and a projector -- with end users in education and commercial in mind. Now HP is launching the Sprout Pro G2 with improvements including better 3-D scanning options (such as 360-degree scans and faster 3-D capture) and an improved stylus (the HP Active Pen). The new version also includes a 23.8-inch FHD touch-screen display, a seventh-generation Intel Core i7 processor (the quad-core i7-7700T) and Nvidia GeForce GTX 960M graphics.
