Between new virtual reality products and next-generation curved displays, CES is the best place for enthusiast gamers to view the coolest new gadgets.
As the conference kicks off this week in Las Vegas, vendors like Acer and Dell have already launched new enthusiast products, including updated Alienware products and new Predator gaming displays, in an attempt to catch the eyes of the gaming community.
One thing is clear at CES – vendors are bringing innovative capabilities to gamers, from eye-tracking technology to curved displays, to virtual reality-enabled notebooks. Here's a glimpse of some of the newest technologies that gamers will be able to use in the coming year.
Acer Predator Z301CT
Acer took the wraps off its newest Predator gaming display, the Z301CT, on Tuesday. This display touts two cool features – a curved monitor for gamers and built-in Tobii eye tracking.
The eye tracking feature, which according to Acer is supported in over 45 games, will enable game graphics to adjust based on where the player looks.
The 2560 x 1080 pixel display features Nvidia G-Sync – new display technology that minimizes input lag – as well as two 3-watt speakers with DTS sound.
The Z301CT will be available in February starting at $899.99.
Acer Predator XB2 Line
Acer is launching a second product ahead of CES – the Predator XB2 line, which consists of two 1920 x 1080 pixel displays. The XB25Q is a 24.5-inch model display, while the XB272 is a bit bigger at 27 inches.
Both displays feature a DisplayPort 1.2 input, HDMI and four USB ports.
This XB2 series will be available for purchase in February – the XB25Q will cost $549.99, while the XB272 will cost $679.99, according to Acer.
Inspiron 15 Gaming
Aimed at gaming enthusiasts, Dell says the Inspiron 15 Gaming is the most powerful Inspiron model yet with quad-core, seventh-gen Intel H-class processors. The notebook also features NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 and 1050 Ti graphics and up to 32GB of RAM. For all of that power, the Inspiron 15 Gaming manages to measure less than 1 inch thick. For the display, the options are for FHD or 4K UHD, while an onboard subwoofer promises a premium audio experience, Dell says.
The Dell Inspiron 15 Gaming notebook, is available Jan. 5 with a starting price of $799.
Alienware 13
Dell is calling the updated Alienware 13 "the world's first 13.3-inch VR notebook," with the sort of performance demanded by virtual-reality users in a compact-sized notebook. That comes in the form of seventh-gen Intel Core H-class processors (quad-core), proprietary Dynamic Overclocking technology and 16GB or 32GB for RAM. And for graphics, the notebook features options for the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 or GeForce GTX 1060, while the display comes HD, FHD or QHD (with touch) configurations.
The updated Alienware 13 is available Jan. 5 with a starting price of $999.
Alienware 15
Dell says the new Alienware 15 introduces premium metal materials for its body while still slimming down the notebook from previous generations. For processing power the notebook uses seventh-gen Intel Core i7 K-series processors (which are quad-core and support dynamic overclocking) and, for graphics, the notebook introduces the new NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti chip. The Alienware 15 also offers up to 32GB of RAM and its 15.6-inch display comes in FHD or UHD options.
The updated Alienware 15 is available Jan. 5 with a starting price of $1,199.
