Park Place Technologies Acquisition Tear Rages On

Park Place Technologies, which made CRN’s 2020 Elite 150 list, made its fourteenth acquisition since 2016 this week with the purchase of Custom Hardware Engineering & Consulting.

Park Place Technologies has made its fourteenth acquisition since 2016 with the purchase of Custom Hardware Engineering & Consulting (CHE) to boost its bread-and-butter data center maintenance business.

The Cleveland, Ohio-based Park Place, which is also acquiring top executive talent at a rapid rate, will gain CHE Consulting’s large enterprise customers in the U.S. and deep vertical skills in government to enable clients to get better data center return on investment (ROI) from their platforms.

Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Since being acquired by private equity firm GTCR in late 2015, Park Place has acquired a total of fourteen companies or strategic business units, including network monitoring software specialist Entuity and, most recently, the network operations center (NOC) business of IntelliNet in January.

Park Place – which made CRN’s 2020 Elite 150 list-- has also made significant hires recently including nabbing many top executives from Dell Technologies, the $91 billion worldwide data center infrastructure market share leader.

Just last week Park Place disclosed that it had hired Dell Technologies’ vice president of sales for Dell EMC’s Data Protection Solution business in the Americas, Michael Vedda, as its first ever chief revenue officer. The company also hired Kathie Lyons, Dell EMC’s vice president of Enterprise Programs and National Security, as its new executive vice president and general manager of its ParkView services business. And the company snagged David Cox, who held top positions at Dell EMC from 2004 to 2015, as Park Place’s new chief operating officer in September 2019.

Fenton, Mo.-based CHE Consulting has been providing IT maintenance support for storage, server and networking equipment since 1997. CHE utilizes proprietary artificial intelligence remote monitoring and diagnostic tools, and dedicated engineering and support teams to help organizations maximize the useful life of their IT investments. The company specializes in hardware from Dell Technologies, IBM, Oracle, NetApp and Cisco, to name a few.

Founded in 1991, Park Place services data center storage, servers and network hardware and supports over 58,000 data centers in more than 150 countries for its more than 17,000 customers worldwide. The company has historically been a standout in the data center third-party maintenance space but is aggressively broadening its systems monitoring portfolio and worldwide go-to-market strategy.
