Dell Salaries For New Sales, Engineer And Manager Roles: Report
Salaries for new Dell Technologies hires over the past 12 months through H-1B visas range from $62,000 to well over $200,000, according to a report from Insider. ‘Dell is tapping into talent acquisition of resources in other countries,’ one top executive from a large national U.S.-based solution provider tells CRN.
Dell Technologies has hired hundreds of new employees—from engineers and salespeople to project managers and directors—through H-1B visas over the past year with most salaries in the low six-figure range.
Salaries for new Dell hires began at $62,000 for low-level analyst roles, while annual pay for director and management positions reached over $200,000, according to a report by Insider that analyzed salaries of 381 approved H-1B visa applications for Dell workers hired over the past 12 months. Insider’s data is based on the base-salary of foreign workers whose visas were sponsored by Round Rock, Texas-based Dell.
“381 is quite a few people,” said one top executive from a large national U.S.-based solution provider that partners with Dell who did not wish to be named. “Dell is tapping into talent acquisition of resources in other countries. You look at a place like India specifically, I mean, they’re fantastic at producing engineering-type talent. There could also be a gap in the U.S.’ ability to produce engineering talent as well. We do see a lot of companies bringing some of the best-of-the-best over to the states.”

The executive said he’s seeing an overall IT talent shortage in the U.S. while also “experiencing a lot of salary acceleration” as well.
“With salary acceleration continuing to increase, you combine it with some cost-of-living expenses that are continuing to go up, like from the standpoint of inflation—it’s getting pretty expensive,” he said. “Even when we do find the people, we’re finding them for a lot more money.”
Engineers And Technical Employee Salaries
Dell hired many technical and product-focused workers, including engineers who made nearly $200,000.
New Dell engineering salaries include an industrial engineer hired for $160,000, a firmware principal engineer with a salary of $125,000, and a $198,000 salary for a software engineer. All three positions were based in Dell’s home state of Texas.
Additionally, Dell hired a IT telecom engineering consultant for $113,000 who would be based in Florida, and a senior advisor of product management for $138,000 in California.
Sales Experts Salaries
Dell has hired many sales consultants and advisors through H-1B visas with salaries ranging from $77,000 to $135,000, according to the Insider report.
The salary of a sales planning and strategy consultant was $130,000 based in Kentucky, while the exact same position held a $135,000 salary for a new hire based in Texas.
A Texas-based senior advisor for sales planning and strategy position received a salary of $106,000, while a senior analyst for sales operations in Texas had a salary of $77,000.
Companywide Director And Senior Position Salaries
Unsurprisingly, the largest average salaries Dell dished out to H-1B visas applicants were for director and other senior management roles.

Dell Technologies is a worldwide market leader in storage, servers, hyperconverged infrastructure and PCs with annual revenue reaching $94 billion. The company has approximately 158,000 employees worldwide.
The top executive from a solution provider who partners with Dell said his own company has done several hires through H-1B visas.
“We’ve done the H-1B thing, but as a professional services organization, we definitely find it a little easier to control the quality of our deliverables if we’re working with people who ideally can be more engaged with the organization,” he said. “Now that doesn’t mean you hire an H-1B employee and they’re not coming to the U.S. and living near an office or living near a service delivery hub or whatever you need, but from a standpoint of hiring, we’ve still been doing in a traditional way—but we are always exploring options.”
