LogicMonitor Snaps Up AIOps Firm Unomaly To Make Infrastructure Visibility More 'Holistic'

Now combined, LogicMonitor and Unomaly's technologies will increase infrastructure visibility and expand AI opportunities for the channel and end customers.

LogicMonitor has scooped up Unomaly, a Swedish tech firm known for its artificial intelligence (AI) chops, the two companies announced on Monday.

Software-as-a-Service monitoring specialist LogicMonitor said that the acquisition will ultimately give IT and DevOps teams more intelligence. The deal will further LogicMonitor's AIops roadmap while also expanding AI opportunities for the channel -- a relatively new route to market for LogicMonitor.

LogicMonitor and privately-held Unomaly did not disclose financial details of the transaction.

Unomaly, founded in 2010 and based in Stockholm, Sweden, is bringing its AI and machine learning algorithms to LogicMonitor. These algorithms can surface unexpected events, missing parameters or frequent or suspicious repetitive entries, the companies said. The company's technology gives IT teams access to unlimited log data, without increases in cost, that they can use to view log events to determine root cause analysis.

The technology is especially helpful for IT teams that are currently struggling to make data from traditional log management solutions insightful or actionable, LogicMonitor said.

“The value of Unomaly's patented algorithms, combined with LogicMonitor's existing AIOps capabilities, will further help IT teams operating in complex infrastructure environments use AI to automatically analyze and surface anomalies. The result is that users gain the ability to proactively take action before the bottom line is negatively impacted," LogicMonitor CEO Kevin McGibben said in a statement on the acquisition.

Together with LogicMonitor's technology, businesses and channel partners will have a more “holistic “view of their or their client's complete IT infrastructure, including applications and services sprinkled across on-prem, private and public cloud environments, McGibben wrote in his blog post on the news.

LogicMonitor said it will spend 2020 integrating Unomaly’s technology into the LogicMonitor platform.

Santa Barbara, Calif.-based LogicMonitor launched its first partner program last February. The LogicMonitor Partner Network includes dedicated partner managers, sales and marketing collaboration, training, certification programs and an automated deal registration process. The three tiers to the program, Bronze, Silver and Gold, are based around revenue thresholds. The company in December hired channel veteran Sanjay Gupta as its global vice president of channel and alliances.
