Splunk Continues Machine Learning Acquisition Spree With Purchase Of SignalSense
Fresh off last week's acquisition of Rocana's technology and IP assets, Splunk revealed on Tuesday the purchase of data collection and breach detection specialist SignalSense in a push to enhance its machine learning capabilities.
"The SignalSense team consists of industry-leading experts in building modern cloud applications and applying machine learning to data at scale," said Richard Campione, chief product officer at Splunk, in a statement.
Splunk said it would leverage Seattle-based SingnalSense's expertise and technology to advance its machine learning capabilities and its "market-leading" machine data platform. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

This is the second machine learning acquisition San Francisco-based Splunk has made this month. On Oct. 9, Splunk unveiled it had acquired technology and IP assets from analytics software and machine-learning startup Rocana.
Similar to the SignalSense acquisition, Splunk said it would leverage Rocana's technology to advance its machine data platform and machine-learning capabilities across Splunk's entire portfolio.
In June 2015, Splunk also acquired Vancouver-based Metafor who specialized in machine learning and anomaly detection.
Brad Lovering, chief engineering officer at SignalSense, said, "As organizations continue to realize the value hidden in machine data, while moving workloads to hybrid and cloud environments, there's never been a better time to help Splunk customers solve these challenging issues with machine learning and artificial intelligence."
SingnalSense will join Splunk's Products organization.
